TCE gave up 650 employees and half its cars in 2009

"The atmosphere is completely different now," says Sorin Sofian, general manager of TCA Logistica, a top five courier on the market, who expects a 4% profit margin for this year, after he describes last year as having been a "big chaos" and "the first year the company ended with losses". TCE, part of RTC Holding group controlled by Octavian Radu, ended last year with 19.5m-euro turnover, from 17m euros in 2008, but went into the red.
The company's representatives did not specify the value of losses, though. The company underwent restructuring after acquiring Curiero brand last year did a stock swap with domestic courier company Curiero. In the wake of the process, 650 people were laid off. TCE thus reached 1,150 employees, from 1,800 in 2008. Moreover, TCE head gave up 400 of its 800 vehicles last year, with part of them being retuned to the leasing firms the company works with. After all these steps taken, Sofian says he is not sure what 2010 will bring for the company.
